(00:00:00) INTRO Creativity is a huge requirement in the podcast world. Do you get the impression that it is limited to a traditional interview, questions and answers? It is true that there are many. This format is quite easy to implement. But this is not the only one that exist. To convince you, here are some cool podcasts to listen to. (00:00:21) 1ST EXAMPLE Tom Bilyeu launched the podcast Impact Theory, which is a business and mindset-focused interview about inspiration to achieve success. The interview like podcast invites various entrepreneurs, successful people who share their stories. The idea is to aspire people to achieve success. Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu, has released over 700 episodes, and the episodes are quite long compared to the average: between 2 and 3 hours. And it is a hit! What we have to remember: the length of a podcast doesn't really matter as long as it's interesting. (00:00:55) 2ND EXAMPLE Transfert, a podcast by Slate, tells a surprising, gripping, moving true story. It goes in all directions. there's this woman who is the victim of a pathological liar, a mother who lost her 8-year-old daughter to cancer, a young man whose trip to the United States turned into a nightmare, a young woman who should never have rented her flat on Airbnb... It's an interview format but you never hear the voice of the person asking the questions. The editing ensures that the guest is the one doing the talking. So the guest unfolds his or her story gradually. The ted interview is a podcast about digging into provocative and powerful ideas with some of the world's most interesting people. The podcast is in interview format, and you can hear mostly the voice of the person who is being interviewed. What we have to remember: An interview podcast can take many forms. Hearing the answers most of the time works too! (00:01:17) 3RD EXAMPLE Third example... Things to know is that there is a general knowledge podcast known as you'll die smarter? The podcast is no longer than 3 mins It lasts 2 minutes, never more than 3. Sometimes it's anecdotal like the episode Why are cats afraid of cucumbers? And sometimes more serious, like the episode How does loneliness affect the brain? What we have to remember: it's also good when it's short, very short. (00:01:46) 4TH EXAMPLE Bunny Ears by Macualay Culkin, is a good example of a group podcast. Recorded live, like a radio show, it hosts special guests, even friends, who have things to say and some common points that serve as a basis for discussion. What we have to remember: When it is well done, the group podcast is really great. It is absolute fun! (00:02:07) OTHER PODCASTS Another type of podcast that I like is storycorps. The podcast gives the floor to two people who share their stories in an unscripted conversation which is often very moving. What to remember from this?: that this is still a podcast in an interview format, but it's still a different way of doing things. It proves that you can be creative by being basic. Or what about an investigative session? In each episode of the Tip-off, the host digs deeper into investigation from recent years and it goes from pitching to a reporting session along the way. What we should remember: Podcast is not only about entertainment. We can be surprisingly amazed by the hard work of the journalist, as well as by the information and emotions felt. Another example of a very nice but totally different podcast: The Amelia project. This is a fictional story full of twists and turns and dark comedy. What we should remember: the podcast can also be completely fictional. You get caught up in it just as you would in a good novel. It's great. I hope these examples have motivated you to get started. When it comes to podcasting, you are, really, your only limit.
