Description

(00:00:00) INTRO You probably think that it is a challenging task to launch a podcast, that you would need to make use of professional tools and a radio voice. In fact, to launch your own podcast, you only need to have something to say, a message to convey. It is your lucky day as you have come to the right place. Launching a podcast is easier than what you think! We all have something to say and podcast is a great mean and effective tool used to express yourself. In the first episode of the Podcast Academy of Lilicast, you will find the right tools and knowledge to shape your ideas.  (00:00:37) jingle (00:00:40) AN IDEA To launch yourself, you would need an idea to start with.  To find some inspiration, you can ask yourself some questions about what you would like to share? Some examples, what have you achieved that is worth sharing, what have you learnt that you would like to share so others can learn as well? What are the corporate values that you would like to highlight? What are the problems you can handle and find solutions for? What message would you like to pass on?  Choose a theme that can be split into various categories such as corporate life, personal development, the economy, current affairs. The list of theme is quite extensive and there is a wide array of options out there.  (00:01:22) The theme will then be broken down into different episodes. You can name them. Do not limit yourself, get creative and write down everything that comes to your mind, even if it looks unnecessary to you or that idea has already been used before. Do not think too hard about the relevance of the topics as this will be easily sorted once you have your list of episodes right in front of you. You will quickly realise which topics you will want to work on and those that are not too appealing to you (00:01:54) Now, it is the right time to pick the tone to be used. Sometimes, some themes need a touch of humour and on the other hand, some can be quite serious which will then require a more serious and bold tone. But, we can also address a serious topic without sounding too serious, of course. In this case, why not opt for an off beat, and sassy tone? A lively podcast, with the right tone will have more impact and will therefore have more chances to stand out from the others. At first, avoid aiming for perfection and trust your guts and instincts. Trust yourself, and be genuine. Have you started visualising your podcast? Great! Let's start building!  (00:02:33) jingle (00:02:36) TYPES Now that you have picked up the right tone, you can start working on the body of the podcast. The podcast can be engaged in various formats. Practice of podcasts can be done solo with the use of a microphone; We say everything we want to, without any third party intervention. The main advantage here is that it is easy to create and you have nobody but to report to yourself! However, you need to make sure to have the right energy and dynamics; You need to find 'the magic way' and good timing to captivate and secure the interest of your audience.  (00:03:10) A podcast can also be in the form of an interview. This type of podcast allows you to discuss with the selected interlocutors that you appreciate. You can also find somebody to interview you based on a subject of your choice; this gives you the opportunity to talk about matters that you are fond of, which can alleviate any stress, make you sound more comfortable and natural. We can also make a group podcast, which can be livelier but requires more organisation. There is no podcast format that is better than the others. The best podcast is one where you feel at ease and comfortable.  (00:03:47) jingle (00:03:50) ORGANISATION Here are some important questions as to how to be more organised in a timely manner: How much time are you willing to dedicate to the creation of podcasts? and what will be the duration of one episode in order to cover everything you have to say? The answer to the first question is related to your own personal schedule.  Our advice: Be motivated but not too ambitious. The recording of a podcast can be very fast with Lilicast but the writing depends on your source of inspiration of the day. Inspiration fluctuates everyday, depending on your mood, level of energy and the daily unpredictable challenges of life.  (00:04:30) To produce content in the long run, create a calendar to help you keep pace with regular updates which will eventually reassure your audience, but also be prepared to be flexible in case of any challenges or setbacks that may crop up. This will help you to remain calm, and therefore will not be a demotivator factor for you to give up.  There is no golden rule when it comes to the duration of your podcast, as long as it is interesting. Say what you have to say and go straight to the point. Keep in mind that we live in a fast changing world, where everybody is in a rush, and time is limited.  (00:05:07) Before you take the plunge, you have to think of a podcast name. This is an important step, but bear in mind that this will not define the success of your podcast adventure. Opt for a name that is clear and easy to pronounce. At Lilicast, we know very well, that sometimes this is one of the steps that one might have the tendency to leave for later on. It is very reassuring to master the steps and small details as it gives out the feeling that you are on the right track. But of course.... this is not a big deal! (00:05:39) jingle (00:05:42) CONCLUSION To recapitulate: To start a podcast, you have to: Have an idea, Choose the format of your podcast that you wish to proceed with ( solo, interview style, or group podcast) and finally, give a name to your podcast and the duration. Now, the cards are yours, get playing! You want everything to be immaculate before starting? We then would rather tell you to: do this well, with a lot of interest and enthusiasm, and do not allow small details put you off. The most important thing is to deliver the right message to your audience.  And you know what they say: When we strive for perfection, we will never take the first step.... (00:06:18)  You can find a lot of tips to create a podcast to your liking in the coming episodes of the Podcast Academy. See you soon!
